out with the old

these delightful sunny days have proven too amazing for me to even get to the computer. the high tunnel has been begging for attention and loathe as i do this time of year, we did it, we transitioned the tunnel (basically) to spring production. what does that mean? the last of the winter greens are now stowed away in orange baskets ready for cow treats.

ouch. it does hurt, you know i love my cow, but my lettuce. that is pretty special stuff. anyway. the future is bright, i love the promise of  the new season ahead: those empty beds are full of the seeds and hope of carrots and spring onions and fresh salads again. alas, the clear sunny sky and high winds can do more than dry your clothes on the line (i have been so thankful to catch up on laundry these past days, really!). they can bring “arctic fronts” here to kentucky. so, we prepare for a night in the teens ahead, and a tomorrow with a high not even freezing. better put some wood on the fire!
